Executive Insights Direct Connect Alumni in Senior Executive positions are invited to visit Queen’s University campus through the Executive Insights program. This program is designed to provide students and Business Career Centre staff with information about the participant’s industry and firm, while giving Senior Executive alumni direct access to Queen’s School of Business talent. Direct Connect is designed to support students in their job search by providing them with a structured method to connect with their employer of choice. While Direct Connect is not a placement program, it will allow you to make an impact on students’ career activities. By providing students with information about your firm and advice on pursuing a career within your organization or sector, your firm will also gain direct access to talented students who are passionate about your brand. Participation would generally include a 2-hour group session with Business Career Centre representatives to discuss industry, company and talent recruiting followed by a day of coffee chats or mock interviews with students from various programs. Career Choices Career Choices is an annual career management event designed to connect alumni with 2nd and 3rd year Commerce students. This program provides mentorship to students who are currently exploring both traditional and non-traditional careers in business. Alumni can participate in mock interviews, panel discussions, and a networking exchange, and are encouraged to be candid in describing their positions and career paths. Alumni are asked to participate in 30 minute informational interviews with students throughout the academic year. Students are asked to do their due diligence before being paired with an employer. The Queen’s School of Business Career Centre runs an excellent program called Direct ConnectTM. You are asked to identify the top three companies you would like to work for. They will then put you in contact with alumni and other key decision makers within those companies. It’s a very effective way to facilitate your job search.
