Hey Memento, thanks for taking the time to tell us a little more about your beautiful self.
Tell us about your career as an alternative model. How did it all start and where do you want it to go?
It started when one of my good guy friends applied to model for Emalyth. He came bragging to me and I instantly wanted to become a model too.
He left the scene but I just fell in love with it. I don't really want it to "go anywhere" I guess, just as long as I love it and my fans love it, I’ll keep doing it.
Describe yourself to us please!
It's hard to describe myself.
I don't fit in to any particular group but I usually say I’m Goth to keep it short and for the most part I fit that description but I’m just me, alternative.
What do you consider the criteria to call yourself an alternative model?
You have to be into the scene, it's all good and nice to just want to look the part but if you aren't into it and it isn't who you are then I don't see the point.
What kind of challenges do alternative models have that mainstream models don't have?
Probably finding a market for our work, since it's not so mainstream we're appealing to a more specialised market. Also I think our poses are a bit more hazardous, I’ve had to lie in my fair share of thorny sticks and rocks. Just throwing it out there!
What does it take to be a successful model?
Determination, I’d say. It's not so easy to get into and there will be quite a few haters, but if you love what you're doing and you push through, you'll get there.
What do you like most about being a model and on the flip side, what do you least enjoy?
I think the people I get to work with make it pretty awesome, from models to MUAs to photographers, they just always make it a memorable experience. What I least enjoy... that's a bit harder, I guess that would be people who try
>>>
> to put me down by insulting my work, it's a special kind of ignorance they have.
Tell us about a favourite shoot you've done.
If I had to pick, it would be the shoot I did with Twiggy Ramone and GT3 photography "Leave a scar"
I was working with amazing people and just having a great time, there are shots were I had to whip Twiggy and they told me to go soft and slow... I kept hitting her full on, she just turned to me and said (insert German accent here)"Ya you'll get your turn" and quite frankly, I did.
How has modelling changed other aspects of your life?
It really hasn't really changed much honestly, I’ve lost a few friends along the way but my true friends are here cheering me on.
The concepts of your work. Is it a team effort between you and the photographer or do you choose a photographer whose work fits an idea you have?
Sometimes it's a team effort other times it's all me, but no matter whose concept it is there are always ideas being thrown around.
If you could shoot with any photographer who would it be and why?
I'd really like to work with Kyle Thompson, I really just love his work
Are there any kind of modelling you won't want to do and why?
I tend not to do nude, just out of personal preference. Other models are ok with it and I don't judge them at all, it's just not me.
Who or what inspires you?
I get inspiration from a whole bunch of different places, I can't really pin it down to one.
How would you describe the clothes you wear in daily life?
Black haha. I tend to wear my pjs when I can which include some not very alternative guy pants from woolworths, but that’s all down to the fact I have eczema and loose cotton clothes feel nicer on my skin.
Any upcoming projects we should look out for
At the moment I’m taking a bit of a break, I've just finished paying off a new camera and I’m going to be playing on the other side for a while, I might feature some of that on my page though.
What advice to you have for aspiring models?
Just have fun and be yourself, because at the end of the day it’s about enjoying what you do.
