>>> respects two graves away from where I was acting all posessed, but all and all it was a good day.

Emily Rose. Scary. Did you have any nightmares that night?

Hahahaha! Nah, exorcism is something that I've found fascinating from a young age.

A while back a few of us had this little project where we made music, videos and imagery around the theme. It seemed only fitting to do a posessed photoshoot.

The make-up is amazing. Did you do it yourself?

Thank you, I did.

I always do my own make-up. I got into it when I started doing modelling. I never knew of any make-up artists in the area I lived, so I had to improvise.

A course and lots of YouTube videos later I started not sucking at it. Now it's something I enjoy too much to let anyone else do.

That's not always a good thing, though; I lose out on getting a fresh perspective from someone with different ideas than I have.

How has modelling changed other aspects of your life?

I don't really know....maybe how I see myself and the world around me.

I'm way more confident now than I was before I started.

And wherever I go, I'm always imagining how shoots would turn out at the specific locations.

Oh and I only got into make-up artistry after I started modeling.

When you're not dressed as a possessed woman you're running around in the woods as a Black Metal Bunny. Are the concepts of your work a team effort between you and the photographer or do you choose a photographer whose work fits an idea you have?

Usually me and the photographer both get our ideas, tell the other person and then we make it happen. But the Emily shoot was suggested by our friend, Rudi. It was one of those "yeah we will do that some time"-shoots and one day we just did. Living in Middelburg, I don't really have a variety of photographers to choose from. So when I want to work with someone new, I have to go to Joburg or Pretoria. Although I enjoy doing so, its not always possible. Most of my sets are done by Corpse Photography. We've known eachother for years and work well together. One could say we're like family..

If you could shoot with any photographer who would it be and why?

Internationally definitely Anathema Photography. I just love their work so much! Locally, Nepenthe Ohm.

Are there any kind of modelling you won't want do and why?

I don't want to do anything along the lines of Suicide Girls. Don't get me wrong, those girls are awesome but the SG look is just not my style.

I also won't do any pornographic shoots for obvious reasons and I prefer not to do nude shoots. I would much rather create a horror photo than a sexy nerd photo.

Who or what inspires you?

Everything around me.. and to be completely honest.. Pinterest. I look at a sh*tload of art daily and get a lot of ideas. I can go anywhere and find something that gives me an idea for a shoot.

How would you describe the clothes you wear in daily life?

Sometimes plain and boring, sometimes unusual depending on my mood. Sometimes (let's be honest, atleast 70% of the time) I wear band shirts and jeans with sneakers or skinnys and my trusty Doc's. Sometimes I wear black hippie dresses or eyeball dresses with petticoats and again my trusty Doc's. Oh and I love long black and white striped socks.

We featured your art in the first issue of alt.SA. Do your art and modelling inspire each other?

In a way, yes. But for me its more like if I have this idea and I wouldn't be able to get the results I want from doing a shoot, then I paint it to get the image I want. Although lately I paint way more than I model.

Any upcoming projects we should look out for?

I will be working with the amazing Outsider Girls. The concept involves something that you can say I'm kind of obsessed with but you will have to wait and see.

What advice to you have for aspiring models?

Just get out there and do it! Work hard and get creative. Don't be afraid to be different. Chances are, that's what will make you successful.Ghghghg
