A night of praise and enjoy

A fantastic evening for all, as
the whole squadron gathers in
the Nuffield Pavilion to celebrate and award the achievements of cadets and staff over
the past year.
The evening started with
the band performing around
the entrance to welcome cadets, guests and the guest of
honour; Group Captain Sansom, RAF Cosford Station
Commander.

squadron took part in.
Flight Sergeant Alder had
an interesting speech about
the amazing opportunity of flying an aircraft!
Then it was time for more
presentations. Sergeant Mathias
(Adventure
Training
Award),
Cadet
Wasserman
(Most Improved Male Cadet)
and Cadet Eccleston (Most Improved Female Cadet) all received an award.
Then, with everyone inside and seated, the presentations began. Nine awards were
given out in total. Up first were
Sergeant Phillips (Best NonCommissioned Officer), Cadet
Vince (Bands Person of the
Year) and Cadet Goodyear
(Cadet of the Year).
Following, Corporal Giles
informed the guests about last
year’s annual Dining in Night.
Next, Corporal Morjaria
spoke about camps the squadron attended over the past
year – including the wide
range of activities cadets participated in during their time
away.
Sergeant Phillips informed
and updated the guests of the
technology and communications area of the squadron, including ways of being kept up
to date - such as Altitude!
We have been successful
with sport over the past year,
Corporal Boyle informed the

recent field craft camp: Cadet
Are You Tough Enough.
The next awards were
given
to
Corporal
Boyle
(Sports Person of the Year)
and Flying Officer Preston
(Wandering Trophy).
Sergeant Mathias spoke
to the audience about the recent Mixed Martial Arts course
led by Senior Aircraftman Norton.
Corporal Lofthouse explained the fantastic adventure
of being able to earn a Duke of
Edinburgh Award and what it
entails.
Lastly, Sergeant Pagett
(Aviation Accomplishment) and
Cadet A. Kenney (RAFA Community
Award)
received
awards; Cadet Kenney being
the first to receive a new
award from the Royal Air Force
Association.
Ending with a highlights
video of the past year and
speeches from Officer Commanding
Flight

Don Rhodes.
With a variety of food afterwards, it was a night of
praise and enjoyment for everybody. ●
