Many years of service
By Cadet C. Vince
The day started early with a long
journey to Cambridgeshire, but
none of the cadets seemed to mind
because the journey was filled with
gossip and laughter with Civilian Instructor Scott telling jokes along the
way.
When we reached Duxford, I’ll
have to admit the weather could
have been a bit kinder to us, but no
one seemed to mind as all of us
were looking forward to a great day!
We split up into pairs, Sergeant
Phillips and I first strolled around
the Air Space hanger, Cadets Marsh
and Scott took off on their own adventure however Civilian Instructors
Burgess and Scott decided to charge
off to the café to start the day off
with a healthy and nutritious bacon
butty.
Throughout the day we all
worked our way around Air Space,
Flying Aircraft, Historic Duxford,
Land Warfare, Conservation in Action, Battle of Britain, American Air
museum, Air & Sea and The Operations Room exhibits.
Each section was very attentiongrabbing; I specifically liked how the
museum had made model people to
put in the aircraft and weapons to

Cadets Scott, Marsh and Vince
make the scenes look more realistic.
The trip was very educational
and thought provoking. Cadet Scott
said “it was very interesting, filled
with the knowledge of the RAF and
the USAF throughout their many
years of service.”
Now lunch time, we certainly
had plenty of food with Civilian Instructor Scott trying to give away all
his yummy goods. After having a
nice chat as a group - where we discussed the stupidly high prices for
cupcakes and the “old days” - we
marched off to the next exhibit.
My favourite exhibit was the
land and warfare, there was a walkway through all the wars, I and the
rest of the group found it fascinating
observing the weapons used and the
conditions the soldiers fought in.
