This year, we aim to
provide you with a monthly
issue of this newsletter. It
will insure that you stay up
to date with upcoming
events and it will give you
an insight into some of the
adventures we get up to at
2497 Cosford squadron air
cadets.
I would like to start by
congratulating Corporal
Bowden on her promotion
before we broke up for
Christmas. We all wish her
good luck in her new role.
January has been a
good month in terms of
sport. We had some good
achievements in wing sports
At the wing sports event
which was held on the 22nd
of January we had a good
turn out meaning we had an
immediate advantage in the
girls netball tournament.
After playing many games
against some really strong
teams things were looking
good for team Cosford.
Eventually after a lot of
effort and a few injuries we
came out with an overall
second place which is a
great achievement for the
squadron. Also, taking
place that day was senior
boys five a side football.
Cosford were a man down
to start with but this didn’t
put them off. They played
a few games and the score
pattern seemed fairly even.
Unfortunately the boys
were against some tough
teams which led to them
been defeated.
However, a massive well
done is deserved by Sgt.
Collins for making wing selection for football and also
to Cdt. Collins for achieving
the same for netball. Good
luck to them in the next round
of matches. Also in January
some cadets had the opportunity to participate in AEF( Air
Experience Flight ) where
they individually get taken up
in a grog tutor and are give
the chance to experience
aerobatics and felt what it
was like to take the controls
of the plane. Opportunities
like this can be rare and
spaces are limited up so when
spaces become available i
highly recommend that names
get put down as soon as possible as it is a fantastic experience. Quote from CPL.
Frost “Its an experience that I
will never forget! And something I would like to do in the
future again!”
ATC Sunday
Something to note for February was ATC Sunday
which this year celebrates
71 years of air cadets.
Traditionally it is a band
parade which is followed
by a church service at St
Mary’s church in Albrighton.
Unfortunately however the
parade was cancelled due
to bad weather conditions.
However the church service
still took place. A thank you
is deserved by the cadets
that managed to attended.
Overall the celebration
wasn’t as traditional as
usual but the service was
good.

Cadet of the month :
This year every month we
are going to choose a cadet
of the month. Selection will
be based on attendance,
attitude and standard of
uniform. So work hard
because we are keeping our
eyes peeled for the best
cadets.
