A good game of football
By Cadet A. Kenney
Cpl. Cox, Cdt. Hobbs and
myself, started off the
morning by arriving at the
Cosford car pack for 9 am
in
civvies.
We
then
proceeded down to the
football pitch where we
changed into our football
kits, ready for the warm
up.
After joining all the other
cadets wishing to trial from the West Mercian
Wing - we started by
warming
up.
Which
consisted of a series of
running
and
sprinting
activities across the pitch;
followed by some stretches
to prevent us from getting

cramp during or after the
trials: which the Flight
Sergeant said he had
been taught to do while
training for Corps trials
last year.
After approximately fortyfive minutes, we were all
ready to play football. The
referee and an examiner
judged
us
on
our
performance and skills in
a series of matches,
totalling three. These trial
teams were chosen based
on what position you
played.
The competition began.
Cpl. Cox was the centre
midfield player and Cdt.
Hobbs was right back and
both
played
brilliant
games; I played left back.
At the end of the three
games, the referee and the
examiner discussed which
team they would choose to
forward on to regional
level. Cdt. Hobbs had
impressed them and had
been asked to be a sub for
the team. Cpl. Cox had
also shown his skills and
had been asked to be part
of the team that was sent
forward to represent the
region - Wales and West.
It was a great day for all
involved.
Everyone
enjoyed
building
new
teams and playing a good
game of football. ?
