her malignant state has come up before the Lord God Almighty.
Although Adam and Eve did not die immediately, their disobedience proved that there is a divinely appointed connection between sin and disease. For the moment, they broke the law of God; sin entered our world, and everything around them and in them became unstable. When Adam and Eve sinned by choosing to obey the persuasive and subtle blandishments of Lucifer, the fallen angel, who disguised himself as a serpent to hide his true identity, they no longer bore perfectness. Their sin marred their character, and the ordering of nucleotides in their DNA began to degenerate, from the chromosomes to the genes that carried their inherent tendency.
Hence, when they had their sons and daughters, they did not possess the intuitive love of God, nor did they bear the augustness that their parents had before they disobeyed God, instead, they were “in their parents own likeness, after their image” (Genesis 5: 3, margin.) because they inherited their parents sinful degenerated nature, and we, like them, have inherited Adam's and Eve's sinful degenerated nature too. Because by nature, humans have a narcissistic character, most people today find it hard to grasp how Jesus could die to save them. To them, the thought of needing a deliverer to rescue them from the penalty of what the Bible call sin is seen as a cock-and-bull story: an illusory hope; for they say, they did nothing wrong to warrant Jesus' sacrifice.
Little do they know that, like a mother and father with a genetic disorder, the departure of Adam and Eve from the principles, which govern life, exerted an influence that began the descent of hereditary and open a flood gate of disease upon the earth, which today still affects humanity one generation after another spiritually, biologically, environmentally (climate change), gastronomi-cally (the way we choose and prepare and eat food).
Nevertheless, to us that are being saved it is the power of God unto life eternal; for there is one in the Godhead who took not on Him the nature of angels, but like every child of Adam, He was not exempt from the usually legal rules of inheritability whereby genetic factors are trans-mitted from one generation to the next. Hence it is written, “wherefore in all things it behoved Christ to be made like unto His brethren: subject to the weakness of humanity, that He might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertain-ing to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of His people. For in as much that He has suffered and endured being tempted, risking failure and eternal loss, He can now succor us that are tempted.” Hebrews 2: 14-18, margin.
HIS BLOOD WORKS
At this very moment, our God wants to correct our physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, sexual, environmental, and social chaos; caused by the introduction of sin into this world. What proof do I have that this statement is true? Come with me, dear reader, and I will show you my proof.
“And the lord spake unto Moses, saying, this shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing: shall he be brought to the priest: ... then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedar wood and scarlet, and hyssop: and the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel over running water: as for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water: and he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pro-nounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose into the open field.” Leviticus 14: 1-7.
The scripture cited above is my proof that God has done all He can to save us from perdition. Allow me to explain in more graphic detail.
A leper is a person afflicted with leprosy, which is a disease characterised by inflamed nodules under the skin and wasting of body parts; caused by the aerobic (oxygen or air dependent) rod-shaped spore-producing bacterium called bacillus Mycobacterium leprae, which is found primarily in soil.
There are not many recorded cases of a leper being cured in the Old Testament, except for Miriam and Naaman. Anyone who had leprosy back then was cut off from society and left to the mercy of God. Leprosy was emblematic of sin, and its suffering and shame, but in the same way that leprosy was an outward token representing sin, in like manner, the offerings offered for the clean-
