A month ago, against the advice of
others, I took the ultimate leap. I quit
my first job in the field of
communications. Upon graduating
from college, two months prior, I was
filled with the same uncertainty that
often takes hold of recent graduates:
What happens next? Where will I
work? What if I can’t find a job?

My first job at an advertising agency
taught me a lot not just about the
field, but about myself. For years, I
envisioned an office job. I was lured
by stability and the thought that I’d
know what to expect day after day,
even when something unexpected
happened.
At work, my days started to blend
into one another, as I gazed at a
computer screen hours on end. I’d
