Sheperd Spring Trail
This moderate, 1.7 mile trail begins just after the park’ s waterfall, by leaving the OHT to the left, and offering upper ridgeline views of the Frog Bayou drainage before rejoining the OHT just prior to the water crossing at Frog Bayou around mile 3.
Warren Hollow Trail
A ¾ mile trail for day hikes can be completed by most in about an hour.
Enjoying the Lake
Swimming, water skiing, stand-up paddle boarding, and jet skiing, are not allowed on the lake. Motor boats, pontoon boats, canoes, kayaks and pedal boats are available for day rental at the park’ s marina. The lake offers anglers great opportunities for catching bass, crappie, bream, catfish, bluegill, and many other native fish.
Lake Fort Smith is located at 15458 Sheperd Springs Road, Mountainburg, Ark. It is easily accessed from I-49 or the Scenic US 71. The park is approximately 20 miles north of Alma via either route, or about 37 miles south of Fayetteville.
