From the President
Alma Area Chamber of Commerce President Bryan Huff
The vision of the Alma Area Chamber is to make Alma and our surrounding communities a wonderful place to work, live and enjoy our many outdoor activities. Our Mission is to create an environment in which our local businesses and organizations can thrive and prosper. The Alma Area Chamber of Commerce does this by advocating and promoting economic and growth to the City of Alma and our surrounding communities.
We are excited about the I-49 expansion that includes completion of a new bridge over the Arkansas River that will connect Alma with Barling, AR. We are anticipating that this project will bring new jobs, visitors and economic growth to our area and take our region to new heights. From a commercial standpoint, having a new river bridge that will provide quicker options to import / export items to our region will be a tremendous bust to our economy.
The cities that make up the Alma Area are Alma, Mulberry, Dyer, Mountainburg and the Town of Chester. Each one if the communities that make up the Alma area have many wonderful things to offer to everyone. We are blessed to be surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in Arkansas. Some of the many places to visit is the Lake Alma Trail that provides a setting to reconnect with nature either by walking, biking or even maybe a game of disk golf.
The Alma Aquatic Park is a refreshing way to stay cool and enjoy some family time. Mulberry has recently opened new courts for the popular Pickleball. Mountainburg has the beautiful Lake Fort Smith Park to enjoy natures beauty either by water or staying overnight in the campground.
Alma is led by dedicated servant leaders and have well trained police and fire departments that keep our community safe and progressively moving forward as we are striving to make our hometown a place that people want to visit and relocate to.
The Alma School District is one of the leading school districts in the state with academics but also has some of the best facilities in the state. The Alma Performing Arts Center is shared by the Alma School District with the Alma Education and Arts Foundation, which brings a variety of top artists and shows from all over the United States. We are fortunate to live in an area that has three successful and growing school districts and each one pride themselves in student-first approach and continually strive to make the education of each student a priority. Mulberry / Pleasant View and Mountainburg help make up our strong successful school district.
Downtown Alma has recently improved downtown with the completion of the streetscape on Fayetteville Ave. The City of Alma has recently been accepted into the Main Street Arkansas
Program. The Main Street approach to the downtown revitalization focuses on design, economic restructuring, organization, and promotion. We are excited to see what this program will do to improve many areas in Alma. We understand the importance of a thriving downtown to be the heartbeat of our community so we can continue to grow and strive.
Another wonderful event to visit is the Alma’ s Farmer’ s Market at the Shed downtown Alma. It provides a place for the community to connect with local growers of fresh fruits and vegetables and has many other different vendors to shop from such as fresh eggs, homemade pastries, and soaps etc. Our public library offers dozens of free classes, activities for the kids and has a huge selection of books for your reading.
The Alma Area Chamber of Commerce encourages and invites you to come and explore the town and the surrounding cities that make up the Alma area. So come be a part of the movement toward a positive community of growth and development.
