TONY HORTON FEELING OVERWHELMED & BURNT OUT? IT’S TIME TO RECOVER, RECHARGE & ROCK IT! LIFE IS busy. We are under stress. We go from one thing to the next and often don’t allow ourselves to breathe in between. There is a constant barrage of emails, phone calls, people wanting us, and mile long to-do lists hanging over our heads. It can feel hard to get a handle on things and most of the time people will push through thinking that if they slow down, they will shut down. The truth is, we need time to slow down. Our bodies need time to recover and recharge. Our brains need time to shut off, so that we can have a healthy mental outlook. One of the most important things you can do for your body, especially if you exercise regularly, is to allow recovery and recharge time. Taking time to let your body recover helps prevent injuries, burnout and induces healing. It’s vital if you want to be at your best. Otherwise you will be at risk of body and soul deterioration. Here are the steps I take to make sure I am recovering and recharging, so I can continue to rock it on a daily basis. SLEEP TO RECHARGE Getting enough sleep on a regular basis, not just the weekends, is imperative to stellar health and recovery. When you are asleep, your body heals; it’s hard at work repairing and recharging. Studies have shown that healthy sleep habits actually ‘reboot’ your brain, making room for new knowledge. I see sleep as a key to a successful life, which includes your fitness, your health, your relationships and your career. It’s important to have a bedtime routine to wind down from your day and to get 22 SUMMER 2017 at least 7-9 hours of sleep per night. Your bedroom is a place for sleeping, not working or watching TV. Turning your bedroom into a sanctuary will help you to have quality sleep and recovery time. Turn your electronics off at least an hour before bed, or better yet remove them fr
