GRAZIOSI
“When you set your to-do list for the
day, instead of thinking of it as what you
have to do or what you must do, look
through the glasses of what you get to
do that day."
So eyes open up, phone on airplane
mode, lower the bar, practice
gratitude for just a few moments,
and then think about something you
accomplished the day before. I’ll say
to myself, “What did I do? Oh, that
was a win. Oh, I took care of that. I
closed that deal. I made that happen.”
Or even the little things: “I made it to
Little League practice with my son,
and I loved the way he smiled at me.”
And then set your intention for the
day. For instance: “Today is going to
be a great day because I get to record
this audio that will be transformed into
an article that will inspire and touch
people’s lives. I get to bring my kids
to school. I get to make my spouse
smile.” All of this can happen in
moments. Gratitude, appreciation for
a win, or something you accomplished
the day before. Set your intention
for the day and then all of a sudden,
you’ve fed your mind and fed your
soul.
Then I literally get up and want to
feed my body. For me, I fill a glass
with water, I squeeze a whole lemon
in it, I put some MCT (medium chain
triglycerides) oil in it, I also put some
apple cider vinegar in it, and then a
whole scoop of green powder. Just
a green juice. And I shake it up and
drink that instead of coffee, instead of
anything else, because I feel like that
nourishes and feeds my body. It helps
with acidity. It helps me get enough
energy to go do my next part. And
that’s move.
If you’re just starting to work out,
go take a walk, walk around the
neighborhood, or walk around the

house. But for me, it’s either doing
cardio or going to the gym and getting
that done early. I do this before my
kids get up because I know as busy as
I am, if I don’t get my workout in the
morning, it never gets done because
the day will just get gobbled up.
For me, all of this happens in
moments. I wake up, I think of
gratitude, I think of a win from the
day before, I think of a win that’ll
happen that day, I set my intention for
the day—It’s going to be a great day
because this is what I’m going to do—
then I feed my body with something
nourishing, and then I go move. And
when I get back from moving, that’s
when I can answer my phone, or look
at it if I want, or not. Personally, I
prefer to make breakfast for my family.
That is how I set up the start to my
day.
One last thing. When you set your
to-do list for the day, instead of
thinking of it as what you have to do
or what you must do, look through
the glasses of what you get to do that
day. Because you get to do that when
you could very well have not even
been here today. Or you could be in
the Arizona heat at 115 or 118 degrees
digging a ditch, hoping to someday
move up to supervising digging that
ditch or putting black shingles on a
roof in the hot sun. I will always try to
compare my opportunity to change
lives and to be in business to someone
who doesn’t have a job, who doesn’t
have a desire, or who has a really
difficult job. When you approach
your to-do list with “I get to do this,”
it looks completely different than
thinking “I must do this.”
