WAYS TO
KEEP YOUR ADULT CHILD
FROM MOVING BACK HOME
BY SCOTT & BETHANY PALMER - THE MONEY COUPLE
CONGRATULATIONS! YOUR "baby"
graduated and is out on his or her own.
You hung in there with them through
tough professors, bizarre illnesses, and the
drama of supremely annoying roommates.
But, unfortunately, that high-priced piece
of paper doesn’t seem to be the golden
ticket they thought it might be. And
there’s talk of them moving back home. If
this sounds familiar, you're not alone. Pew
Research Center found, 53 percent of 18
to 24-year-olds still live with their parents
or move back in with them, at least
temporarily. That’s over half! You love your
kids, of course ... you’d do anything to help
them, but maybe “anything” is not the best.
Life beyond the bubble of campus is difficult
because college isn’t the “real world”. They
need to make their own way and skin their
knees. But what if they’re struggling and
call home to see if their room is vacant
and their sheets are washed? Don’t panic.
