school ski trip next Easter. If your child has not brought a letter home, but think they should have, please contact the school office. Maths Challenge Mr Butcher took a team of Year 9 pupils to Millfield School for a very large regional Maths competition. All Saints School came somewhere in the middle of the group of very brainy people and can hold their heads up high for their achievement, well done. The Geology and Geography students are travelling with a group called ‘The Cultural Experience’ to the south of the island to look at the exciting Geology there. They will be experiencing the simulator at the Earthquake centre, standing in the canyon between two continental plates, looking at the volcanic beaches, and seeing dramatic geysers and waterfalls. One highlight of the trip is sure to be swimming in the geothermally heated blue lagoon. Eden Project The Geography Department took 50 pupils down to the Eden Project in Cornwall earlier this term. They saw sculptures, food production, tropical birds, visited Africa, Australia, Asia and South America, all in a day. For further details of the trip please see the news page on our website. Duke of Edinburgh The Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh challengers are in practise for their mammoth weekend camping and hiking expedition. They recently completed a 10 mile walk, with ruck sacks. I am delighted to report they all made it into school the following day. Scooting and biking? ALE Payments Change to the School Day All payments should now have been made for ALE week. If you have not yet paid deposits please do so, we can then finalise all activities. Many thanks. Mr Broadway wrote to you all last week to inform you of a trial change to the school day, effective after May half term. Please see the website for a copy of the letter. The short version is that school will finish at 3.05pm on a trial basis. Iceland Mr Sadler, Miss Wright, Mr Bennett and Mrs Dring will be taking a group of 40 pupils to Iceland this Easter. Just a reminder that if pupils ride a scooter or bike to school they must wear a helmet and not ride on site, they also need a permission form from Mr Stradling. Year 9 £10 Challengers We have just completed our first attempt at the £10 Challenge last month. 6 teams were lent a £10 start -up fund to see if they could turn it around and make a profit. The teams all did extremely well, although there are some challenges keeping up with the paperwork! Once this is all in and together we will be announcing how well they all did.
