8 Social Sciences Defined as the academic disciplines that refer to society and human nature. There are several different paths that you could take into account; for example: sociology, economy, history, geography, and even psychology. You can be as creative as you want and go as deep as your students want to go in those domains. Plants, is an infinite topic for discovering under the umbrella of social sciences (connect science and citizenship). Ask yourself when you create your study plans: What is my objective with the students of these ages? How can we provide the exploratory capacity to discover the plant kingdom as a part of a whole and an individual component of society? How does the Plant kingdom work and how does it vary from one society to another and how does it work in its totality in a society and how does it influence society? For example: What is the meaning of bonsai in Japan? What is the symbol of the olive branch in US politics? While the children of these ages do not totally understand the symbols of freedom, richness and health, they are going to understand that there are different types of plants and how these plants are used with a different message in different contexts. Show them vivid images of the different plants we are talking about. Use the conceptual maps and the Venn diagrams to compare and contrast the different societies as you can see on the symbol of your country or a culture through the different plants.
