Are there any songs you wrote prior to recording the album that afterwards you wished
you had recorded?
Yes a good 50! I'd actually taken a drum machine, a bass and electric guitar for the one day
session at Abbey Road but once I recorded my first track "Here Comes The Tide" after five
takes, I quickly realised this record would work with songs that would stand alone with either a
guitar or piano with voice. One track that I recorded at Abbey Road (and which I left on the
album) "Under This Sun" just didn't have enough feel for me. Although I'm honoured to say that
my friend John asked permission to have this song as his first wedding dance with his Lovely
Wife. I aim to re-record it and put it on Album number 2.
What process went into selecting “Fear Without Progression” as the album title?
This follows the tradition from my Home recording days of naming a collection of songs after
the most musically ambitious track. Besides after writing the song I googled and noticed those
three words had never been put together in any context. I think I created it and if I didn't then I
made it sexy again.
Any plans to make your pre-debut LP recordings available to fans?
Yes I would like too, their is a lot of crap believe me but some real good material too with real
feeling that I doubt I could capture again. I hope to let people here it one day as it was recorded.
No gimmicks or tricks to mask the production or sometimes suspicious timing of the music! Just
as it was.
Where is the dream to play? (Venue or City)
Without doubt The Royal Albert Hall in London. I recently watched Independence Day their
with a live orchestra and I was 7 rows from the front at the side of the stage. I could see what it
would be like to perform their and if I ever get the opportunity, I know I could do it. If I get a
2nd choice it would be The Rocky Steps outside The Philadelphia Art Museum.
What is your favorite song of your that you have written to date?
Different songs for different moods really, I'm proud of them all. "Beachcomber" was recorded
around five minutes after I visited Studio 2 at Abbey Road and I think that comes through in the
recording. So far it's neck and neck with "Boomerang" as the song people relate too most.
What is your favorite song of yours to play live?
"Dice In The Hand" as it means curtain call time! Performing does not come easy for me, I'm an
introvert by nature unless I feel comfortable in my company. Truth is it has to be done because in
these times it's the only way to find a new audience and mostly people seem to enjoy what I do
and that song is about taking your chances and to never stop believing.
