“Fear Without Progression” The Aultones Sometimes, you can fall in love with a record in as quick as 40 seconds, like I did with the debut LP by The Aultones. 40 seconds, a few strums and half a verse and I knew. Nick Higton, who is The Aultones, used the 10 hours he spent in Abbey Road recording this album well. Yes, you read that correctly, not only is Nick writing the kind of great songs that should be starting stadium sing-alongs, but he is talented enough to record this entire LP in 10 hours in studio 3 at Abbey Road. (For those that don’t know, Pink Floyd recorded “Dark Side of The Moon” in the same studio) Now, onto the songs From album opener, “Beachcomber,” to “Just Looking Forward,” to title track (and my personal fave) “Fear Without Progression,” (which feature some great piano playing), all through to album closer “Dice In The Hand” the album features such amazing songs. This is such a great record that I wish I could include a copy of it with this issue so you all could hear it too. I know I can hear a definite Oasis influence, heck, if Liam wanted to get together with Nick and call Gigsy and Bonehead up and say “Let’s put the band back together,” I think Oasis would be just a big as they ever were. The Aultones are an artist that you definitely will be hearing more great things from in the future.
