BeX was also kind enough to take out some time from preparing her album to answer some of Johnny Spice ’ s questions .
When did you decide you wanted to be a performer ?
From a very young age I always loved music , dancing and singing . I started performing on stage at the age of 3 at local school shows , theatres , competitions and then when I reached 15 years old I decided I wanted to go on and perform & train professionally in London .
How did your prior experiences in theatre shape your personal performing and songwriting style ?
I would say that my theatre experience has really helped me grow stronger as a performer & with the development of my songwriting by travelling around the world and meeting lots of new people along the way on different shows . With musical theatre you become conditioned in a particular role / character on each production you do , which was fun , but from this learning experience over the years it ' s helped me to find the individuality as a solo artist , and it ’ s given me the chance to take all my past experience and be who I want to be creatively & personally as a singer songwriter in my own right .
What was a favorite production you were involved in prior to you beginning your solo career ? Playing Belle in Beauty & the Beast , in a production in Abu Dhabi NEC in Dubai .
Tell us about your songwriting process
Sometimes the process is different , it really depends on the situation . Normally I like to collaborate with a musician & build the song up acoustically , as for me it ' s the music that gives me the feel & mood to find a good song title or story I want to write about . Then I find a good melody line and the lyrics will then follow .
What is your favorite song of yours to perform ?
I like performing Hurricane , as the musical and lyrical side feels so good to sing and perform live , it tells a metaphorical story for people watching & listening to interpret the song in their own way . It will be featured on my debut album release 2017 .
Where ’ s the dream venue / location to perform at that you haven ’ t already ?
Ultimately I would love to perform in Las Vegas , The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and also my ambition is to make the main stage at Glastonbury & T in the Park .
