Sherry Rubel - New Jersey
Sherry grew up in her fathers darkroom, on the stage, dancing
and running barefoot through brooks as well as watching her mom
create successful art and education non profits. She considers
herself a "self-taught" photographer. Her passion is portraiture,
photojournalism, and theatre but she loves the creativity and
freedom of photographing models and playing around with special
effects that she calls "Photographic Derivations".
During the last 5 years, Sherry spent time documenting a
homeless encampment in New Jersey, and she has now become
focused on being a tireless advocate for the homeless. Some of that
body of work was exhibited in a solo show at the Monmouth
Museum emerging artist series where she was chosen as one of 6
artists throughout the State of NJ to have a solo show. She has
been invited to do another exhibit in June at the Ocean County
Artist Guild. Currently she spends most of her time speaking to
politicians and organizations throughout the State advocating for
tiny home communities for the homeless.
