On his debut solo LP, Mike LePond, bassist for Symphony X,
shows the world that he just might be a heavy metal Glenn
Miller. He writes, produces, arranges, plays bass and selected
the musicians to bring his vision to life. If that doesn’t sound
like a bandleader to you, then you need to change your
definition.
From the opening notes of “Apocalypse Rider,” to the final
moments of album closer, “Oath of Honor,” the record is
amazing journey through the mind of a genius.
Mike LePond’s Silent Assassins delivers everything a good
record should have. Hooks you can sing along to, riffs you can’t
stop humming, and lyrics that are full of vivid imagery that
makes me just want to close my eyes and imagine along.
A few of the songs that I want to bring to your attention (every
one of the nine on here are great, but there are a few I want to
highlight) include:
First, the title track, “Silent Assassins,” this is the song that
every GREAT record needs, the song that as soon as it is
