United Soccer Coaches serves as the recognized leader in naming All-America soccer players .
The association provides coaches the opportunity to help their players receive richly-deserved recognition while helping promote the growth of the sport .
United Soccer Coaches is indebted to Board of Directors Awards Committee liaison Haroot Hakopian , Awards Committee Chair John Mayer , and the many members of their committees for their efforts in the selection process for the United Soccer Coaches All-America and Scholar All-America teams .
All-America Senior College Men and Women An all-region selection process is carried out by ballot of divisional coaches at the end of the regular season . The All-America selections are based on the various levels of play ( NCAA Division I , II or III ; NAIA or NCCAA ).
Junior College Men and Women The initial step is the selection of all-region teams . The All-America team is chosen from the top candidates from each of the regional teams ( Divisions I and III ).
High School Boys and Girls Each of the United Soccer Coaches regions are allocated a specific number of All-America players based on the high school membership in each region . To become an All-American , a player must first be selected to their respective all-region team . The All-America Teams are comprised of top players from each region .

AWARDS SELECTION PROCEDURES

Youth Boys and Girls The teams presented this year are chosen by nominations from youth members and input from a panel of college coaches and US Soccer age group representatives . Many have experience in the National Team ( selection ) process carried out during the year .
Scholar All-America Senior and Junior College Men and Women United Soccer Coaches selects Scholar All-America teams for male and female athletes competing in soccer at the NCAA Divisions I , II and III , NAIA , NCCAA , and Junior College levels .
To be nominated , a student-athlete must have at least a 3.40 cumulative grade point average ( on a 4.0 scale ) throughout thier career ; play a minimum of 75 percent of games during the season of nomination and be an elite player as supported by playing honors ( i . e ., All-American , All-Region , minimum all-conference ); have a nominating coach who is a current United Soccer Coaches College Services member ; be a junior or above in athletic standing ( senior colleges ) and a sophomore in athletic standing ( junior colleges ) at the current institution ; be in their second year at the current school if they are a transfer student ; and submit a GPA Certification Form .
Those meeting the above criteria will be considered by the committee for one of the Scholar All-America teams . The committee reviews both the academic and athletic accomplishments of the nominees .
The United Soccer Coaches Scholar Athletes of the Year for men and women are selected by the national selection committee from the first team Scholar All-Americans at each level .

High School Boys and Girls To become a Scholar All-American at the interscholastic level , a player must first be nominated by their head coach . The coach must be a United Soccer Coaches member at the high school level . To be nominated , a player must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 or better ( on a 4.0 scale ), must have demonstrated excellence in soccer at the high school level and must have performed service in his or her community .
The Scholar All-America Committee examines eligible candidates ’ resumes and then selects the teams .
Team Academic Award College For a team to be considered , it must have a composite team grade point average of at least 3.0 ( on a 4.0 scale ) for all team members who appear on the official NCAA , NAIA or Junior College roster forms for the previous fall season . The nominating program must be a current member of the United Soccer Coaches College Services program . All players on the roster must be included in the calculation of the team GPA , and the nomination form must be signed by a college or university official .
High School For a team to be considered , it must have a composite team grade point average of at least 3.25 ( on a 4.0 scale ) for all team members who appear on the official eligibility roster for the season , and the coach must be a current United Soccer Coaches member . All players on the roster must be included in the calculation of the team GPA . An official roster must be submitted with the nomination form .
