Advice

Dear All About Puberty,

My name is Ruby, I'm in year 8 and I've been having a bit of trouble with puberty. The main problem is my terrible mood swings. One minute I'm feeling fine and the next I feel angry and depressed. It's always worse when I'm about to get my period and I say mean things to my friends which I'm worried will make them not want to be my friend. What do I do??????

- Ruby

Dear Bryan,

Never fear you just haven't reached your growth spurt yet. Some boys have a growth spurt at the beggining of puberty and some at the end. This is completely normal and if people are oicking on you at school don't be scared to tell a parent, guardian or teacher because you should be happy the way you are.

Dear Ruby,

Mood swings are completely normal during puberty. Some people get really bad mood swings while others do not. I'm sure your friends understand and if they don't you can tell them that you aren't in a good mood and you don't mean the things you say. I hope this advice helps.

Dear All About Puberty,

My name is Lilly and I'm 10. I've already started puberty and I feel really self-conscious because I'm already developing breasts and none of my friends are. I don't know what to do and I'm worried people will be mean to me.

Dear All About Puberty,

My name is Bryan and I'm 14. All of my friends are really tall and strong and I still look like I'm 12. I know this shouldn't bother me but it does and there are some kids at school who pick on me for being so small. How can I cope with this and will I ever have a growth spurt?

-Bryan

Dear Lilly,

You've got nothing to worry about. Girls can start puberty from the age of eight so what your going through is completely normal. Also, don't be afraid to ask your parents to get you a crop-top or training bra if you are feeling self-conscious about your breasts.
