Three Types of Chemical Peels  Light Chemical Peel  A light chemical peel or Glycolic Acid Peel is generally for people that have mild skin condition. The peel is made of glycolic acid that is found naturally in sugar cane, depending on the needs of the clients other ingredients are added. Light chemical peels can be done on the whole face or just spot treatment for problem areas. The whole process usually takes less than an hour and clients have little to no recovery time.  Medium Chemical Peel  A medium chemical peel or Trichloroacetic Peel is best for people with blemishes, scars, uneven pigment or darkness under the eyes. This chemical peel is more intense than a light chemical peel but requires less recovery time than a deep chemical peel. The benefits of a medium chemical peel are improved texture and tone to the skin.  Deep Chemical Peel  A deep chemical peel also known as a phenol peel is the most strenuous peel. Deep chemical peels are only recommended for clients that have severe skin conditions. Clients with darker skin or freckles should not get a deep chemical peel as it will have lasting damaging effects. The deep chemical peel is made of carbolic acid and should be not be done more than once a year.
