Traditional and interactive exhibits tell the story of the railroads that were vital to the Cleburne Santa Fe Shops and Cleburne ’ s history . Activities throughout the museum provide fun for the whole family .
The exhibits at the museum highlight the city ’ s 75 years of being involved with the railroad industry and showcases over 500 artifacts including photographs , tools and more . Stop by the reading room to view its impressive library of books covering the railroad history , then go to the Oral History room for scheduled lectures on its artifacts .
In addition , visitors can also take a virtual tour that provides information about the exhibits and visits to historic railroad locations throughout town , such as Engine # 3417 , also known locally as “ The Spirit of Cleburne .”

Explore Cleburne ’ s train history by visiting Dillon Depot , which is home to a railroad exhibit , including a large HO scale train layout . Experience the sounds of real life train bells , whistles and horns while viewing Cleburne ’ s rich railroad history . It also houses a military exhibit .
Gone With the Wind Remembered Museum 305 E . 2nd St . 817-774-2844
The Gone With the Wind Remembered Museum and Gift Shop pays tribute to the classic 1939 film with a comprehensive collection of memorabilia , including dresses , props , jewelry and photos .
Browse through thousands of rare and hard-to-find items including over 600 dolls of Scarlett O ’ Hara , an armchair used in the film , and original props from the set . You don ’ t have to be a diehard fan of this Civil War romance to appreciate the collection .
Outside the museum , you will find three murals commemorating the movie . The mural of Rhett Butler and Scarlett O ’ Hara strolling down a picturesque path has real rose bushes giving the painting a 3-D effect .
Layland Museum of History 201 N . Caddo St . 817-645-0940
The historic Carnegie Library building houses the Layland Museum of History ’ s gallery and office spaces . There are 50,000 artifacts and 100,000 photographs that preserve local history and home life . The Layland Collection consists of three-dimensional objects , photographs and archival documents .
The Layland opened in 1963 and has several permanent exhibitions that trace Cleburne ’ s past , from its earliest Native Americans to the first settlers during the
