Visiting the Chisholm Trail Outdoor Museum is like walking back in time to see how your ancestors lived . Visitors come from all over the world to see the museum , which sits on the Chisholm Trail which was used in the late 19th century to drive cattle over land .

The museum includes life size cattle drive silhouettes , Johnson County ’ s original courthouse , a working blacksmith shop , a stagecoach station , teepees and more .

Visit the newest museum building — Douglas Harman Chisholm Trail Artifacts & Western Memorabilia — housing the largest collection of authentic artifacts used in the Chisholm Trail The Big Bear Native American Museum featuring a collection of Native American artifacts to provide a complete overview of Native Americans in North America from their arrival over 13,000 years ago to the present .
Visit the Terry Building to see two museums in one ! The Terry ’ s Texas Rangers 8th Texas Cavalry Museum , which occupies one half of the building , is dedicated to Terry ’ s Texas Rangers , a local reenactment and historical group , and Civil War history . The other side houses a museum dedicated to the Texas Rangers , as well as local law enforcement agencies .
