Furthermore , if we decided to date someone lazy , mean , irresponsible , or emotionally inept , for example , what does that say about us as the women who chose to date them ?
After every breakup , there needs to be a relationship reset , a season of healing . The truth is , many of us have never been genuinely single . To be single doesn ’ t just mean being alone and not dating anyone . There ’ s a lot of women that aren ’ t dating anyone but still are not single . Single means one . Something that is whole and in one piece , not broken and fragmented . When we don ’ t take the time to heal and become single , we run the risk of making decisions from a broken place rather than a place of wholeness . Consequently , it impacts our ability to accurately discern people and situations for what and who they are really are .
I get it . We don ' t know everything , and we won ' t always get everything right . Nonetheless , failed relationships and particularly multiple failed relationships are often indicators that there is a negative toxic cycle in place to prevent you from entering into and maintaining healthy and meaningful relationships . Perhaps it is time for you to reset and become whole in God .
Here are some questions to ask yourself as you hit the reset button :
Or a pattern where everyone has had toxic relationships or dating beneath their potential ? Think about the men you have dated over the years . Do you see any trends about their character as a whole ?
Why do you desire to be in a relationship ? Is it for companionship ? Or are you looking to fill a void because you hate being alone ? Is it possible that you are looking for this mate to meet needs that only God can fulfill ?
Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers . For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness ? Or what fellowship has light with darkness ? ( II Corinthians 6:14 , ESV )
Keep your heart with all vigilance , for from it flow the springs of life . ( Proverbs 4:23 , ESV )
Do two walk together unless they are going to the same place . ( Amos 3:3 )
