Epistolary ( Letter ) Poem
Nora C ( 8th Grade )
From : Nora C To : My old friend , Tessa
Dear Tessa ,
Do you remember me ? I am the girl that always wore the colorfully printed dresses , the girl that swirled around with you in music class ,
the girl that you used to call a friend .
Do you remember the times that we spent , filling in what were the bland white pages of my coloring book ?
When you slid that dollar coin harshly across the floor , into my eager hands .
I had begged you for this coin , during the whole hour we shared as close friends during nap time , until the coin met my eager , sweaty hands . I acted like I didn ’ t know what it was , the feeling of success and excitement , ravelled up inside me . Until the moment I picked it up , the most genuine , yet delayed expression being washed across my face .
I still have this token of our friendship , laying in my room . This is an artifact of who we were , yet every single day , it ’ s extraordinary meaning drifts away . The extraordinary meaning being our connection .
