Letting Down Their Dry Rain
Cassidy Sluss ( 8th grade ) From Fahrenheit 451
It was a special pleasure He strode in a swarm of fireflies Thinking little at all about nothing in particular
She almost seemed to be waiting Seventeen and insane Really quite beautiful Miraculous bits of violet amber Nothing but a perfume to me
The brain just gives up , it quits Did it drink of the darkness ? Her dress was white and it whispered Mosquito delicate dancing hum in the air
“ Yes ,” she whispered . “ We are most peculiar .” I ’ d have known it with my eyes shut Two pale moonstones buried in a creek of clear water Over which the life of the world ran Dark sludge of nameless stuff
She was gone , running in the moonlight The moonstones vanished his chest chopped down and split apart Sparkling whirls and blew away Letting down their dry rain .
