The Eaglets
Ella X ( 4th Grade )
Black protective feathers cover the three eaglets . Fuzzy black heads make bright yellow beaks look like shining jewels . Huge flight wings sprout from one eaglet . As it stretches its wings , bright white feathers are revealed under . They stay close in the big , stick-made nest for warmth , their heads looking out for their mother and father .
Jet-black eyes , sleepy , sharp , stare out into the open . One eaglet hides under the other ’ s big wing , as they shuffle to get comfortable . Sharp black points on the beaks allow them to gobble up prey .
Their talons are a flashing yellow color , with shiny black claws to perch on the branches . Jade-green leaves on branches hand over the eaglets ’ heads . The eaglets are starting to wake up , rustling all over the nest . Fluffy white feathers cover the inside of their wings and their legs . Nature ’ s beauty , as from the exact moment they enter the world , they prepare . They prepare for the moment they ’ ll fly . They ’ ll fly away from the nest , leaving the familiar home they have known for the whole of their lives .
It ’ ll be time for a new adventure to begin .
But for now they ' re in the warmth of their nest , with the safety of their parents .
