The Goddess Vulcan demands to be heard She demands that her master be hungry no longer by forcing him to reveal his tongue . He is not as much her master as he is her lover . She is not his . When she convinces him to rear his ugly head , his tongue Escapes . She smiles to herself- His back is blanketed , his eyes are blinded with dust . Atlas falls , Vulcan with him . Their battle begins and the dust is forgotten . We are left for dead by those we perceived to be our parents . We are kicked from the pedestal to our knees . We have forgotten how much it hurts to bleed . We are numb to our own bleeding . The scars made long ago start to sting . They haven ’ t stung since Vulcan ’ s first incursion . Like a blade , she saw through us all and we became casts of what we were . Actors in a tableau , nobody organizing anything . Vulcan grew cocky and soon found herself back to back with her lover ’ s stump of a tongue . Only he too had kicked her to her knees . Atlas perched on the edge of the stump . Vulcan was extinguished by his tears . Her once upon a time lover roared with fury and Atlas ’ victory was over . Grandfathers and digitals stopped
