Dear Reader of A Little Gray Building ,
Foreword
It seems like just a few weeks ago when the sheets of what club we were going to be a part of were posted in Falk ’ s middle school homerooms . Now as the year is drawing to a close and our work is coming together , we look back on our year-long journey as a staff .
The year started out with a group of excited middle schoolers meeting in room 202 and talking about our dreams for the literary magazine . We wanted to make a fall edition and a spring edition , but ended up sticking to just one as the amount of submissions and work that we received was overwhelming- thank you Falk School ! From the theme of the magazine to the way that we wanted to accept submissions , we had a lot of important decisions to make in a short period of time . It all began with an email to the middle school , and then the hallways began to talk about what this new magazine is . We went from room to room , presenting our ideas to the younger grades and stirring up excitement across the school . We met on a weekly basis , coming together and organizing submissions . By the time we closed our submissions , we had over 30 submissions ranging from Kindergarten to 8th grade .
Working on this magazine was not only fun but it was also inspiring . The quality of work coming out of the younger grades was mindblowing and I know that I can say on behalf of the staff that we were all impressed . It was an amazing experience to work with my peers to make this magazine come together , but we could not have done it without two people , Mr . Barnett and Ms . Wittig . Mr . Barnett changed Falk School ’ s literary programs for the better across the school this year , especially with the creation of the literary magazine . He made a deep and sincere impact on the staff of the literary magazine and we cannot thank him enough . I know that we all have learned a great amount from him and he has served as an inspiration to all of us .
Ms . Wittig also helped us greatly along the way . Her continued support of our passion to bring Falk ’ s literary and artistic talents to the public was influential on all of us . She made what could have been a stressful time into a fun time and kept all of us loving what we were doing .
I will miss working on this magazine next year , but the knowledge that I gained through this experience will carry with me and my peers as we graduate into high school and beyond . Thank you to everyone who entered- we couldn ’ t have done it without you . We hope you love Falk School ’ s A Little Gray Building just as much as we do !
Way to go Falk School !
Love ,
