Major General ( Res .) Doron Almog , Chairman of ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran , was honored this year with both the Israel Prize for Lifetime Achievement and Special Contribution to Society and the State , as well as an Honorary Doctorate from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev . The Israel Prize is the most prestigious award bestowed by the State of Israel , and receiving it is a very great honor . The Israel Prize Committee noted that the Major General had led a revolution in caring for Israel ’ s special needs population , which had brought about a crucial change in societal perception of individuals with disabilities . In his acceptance speech for both awards , Major General Almog stressed his dedication to providing the best quality of life possible to the most vulnerable in society and to creating a model culture of acceptance for every person . And at each ceremony , he moved the audience greatly by stating that the prize should really be going to his beloved son , Eran z " l , his inspiration and motivation .
