Major General( Res.) Doron Almog, Chairman of ALEH Negev-Nahalat Eran, was honored this year with both the Israel Prize for Lifetime Achievement and Special Contribution to Society and the State, as well as an Honorary Doctorate from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. The Israel Prize is the most prestigious award bestowed by the State of Israel, and receiving it is a very great honor. The Israel Prize Committee noted that the Major General had led a revolution in caring for Israel’ s special needs population, which had brought about a crucial change in societal perception of individuals with disabilities. In his acceptance speech for both awards, Major General Almog stressed his dedication to providing the best quality of life possible to the most vulnerable in society and to creating a model culture of acceptance for every person. And at each ceremony, he moved the audience greatly by stating that the prize should really be going to his beloved son, Eran z " l, his inspiration and motivation.
