The experts
If you are charging admission to your
event, do you need a Class B liquor
licence, or can you do a special event
licence?
It is still be considered a special event
licence, rather than a Class B licence.
However, there are several different types
of private and public special event liquor
licences.
Are there other restrictions that
come with getting a liquor license (ie.
Security, ProServe, etc.)?
An event that is open to the public
requires one supervisor for every 50
patrons plus one supervisor for every
entrance and exit. ProServe and ProTect
are only required for the Public Resale
Commercial event liquor licences.
What’s the
difference
between a
Special Event
and Class B
License?

Does having a liquor licence protect
you from liabilities (alcohol poisoning,
alcohol related car accidents, etc.)?
The licensee has to provide its own
liability insurance. The AGLC does not
provide that service. This question is bet-
ter directed to an insurance provider.
