Stats The Silver Salmon simply put is our favorite salmon species. Aggressive, acrobatic, hard fighting and tasty, are just a few traits that makes Silver Salmon so amazing. Starting in late August, Silver Salmon begin pushing up the Kenai. Depending on the run size the first push of Silvers can be exciting. Water levels this time of year are generally high and the fishing is primarily done with the use of conventional tackle. Backtrolling plugs or eggs behind the boat or casting in line spinners are the methods most used. Later on into September the second push of Silver Salmon arrive. These fish are more likely to stay in the larger part of the river, and tend to school up in backwater sloughs and soft water pockets, making them easy targets for anglers. September through the end of October is our favorite time to chase silvers. With fish pushing into the 15-17 pound range you will have no lack of excitement. Fly anglers have a great shot at catching silver salmon while stripping streamers and other patterns. Fish this time of year can be found [
