Golf Tournament 2021
A Comeback Year !
For the 20th anniversary of the Alaska CHARR Educational Fund ’ s annual Selman Memorial Golf Tournament , you helped us come SO close to the huge 2019 record with contributions totaling over $ 52,000 !! This is clearly an amazing feat after the devastating year that our industry has experienced . Now – more than ever – the hospitality industry is in dire need of competent , reliable workers . The $ 20,000-30,000 in annual scholarships granted by the Alaska CHARR Educational Fund to students pursuing education for use hospitality careers is one of the many ways in which our teams are working to support the Alaska hospitality industry through workforce development . We could never have accomplished this without the generous donations of our friends and partners , and we thank you deeply .
The tournament was again met with gorgeous weather , courtesy of Dotty and Charlie Selman . Great fun was had at the Anchorage Golf Course with 35 teams playing a fun round of golf ! Thank you to The Odom Corporation , Alaskan Brewing Company , K & L Distributors , and Coca-Cola for
providing refreshments and swag throughout the day . If you missed out on our awesome 20 th anniversary limited edition tournament shirts , we have a few left for purchase ($ 20 ), so please contact the CHARR office .
The 19 th Hole and silent auction at Eddie ’ s Sports Bar were a success , as well . Thank you to Eddie ’ s for hosting , Club Paris for cooking , and K & L Distributors for sponsoring the John Daly – our signature cocktail for the tournament ( all proceeds during the month of June at Eddie ’ s benefit the Alaska CHARR Educational Fund )! We would like to send a huge thank you to all of our sponsors , contributors , golfers , and volunteers who made this year ’ s event possible . The money raised goes directly to the industry in the form of more than $ 20,000 in annual scholarships . We cannot wait to see you next year at the 21 st Annual Selman Memorial Golf Tournament !
