Cassie Ostrander

Membership & Grassroots Manager
I ’ m Cassie Ostrander , and I love Alaska . I moved to Alaska in 2008 as part of the AmeriCorps VISTA program . ( VISTA stands for Volunteers In Service To America .) Through VISTA , I was privileged to visit many communities throughout both rural and urban Alaska . Seeing the beauty of the state and the fun and innovative restaurants , lodges , and hotels was inspiring to me . I traveled to villages , hubs , and cities throughout Alaska , including Interior , North Slope , and Southeast .
I have an Associate ’ s degree in Arts and Science from Grand Rapids Community College , located in Grand Rapids Michigan , and finished ( for now ) my college career at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti , Michigan , majoring in Public Law and Government , with a minor in Journalism . In the future I would like to start working on an MPA so I can further my education .
In Alaska , I have worked for multiple non-profit organizations , both trade association and social service organizations . I enjoy chatting with local businesses leaders , learning about new restaurants , bars , and hotels , and I am passionate about supporting Alaskan Industries .
