Nathan Michaud

With 24 years of experience in the industry, Executive Chef Nathan Michaud has been a cornerstone of Settlers Bay Lodge for the past 16 years, where his leadership and culinary expertise have earned community recognition, including Alaska CHARR Chef of the year and Restaurant of the year, Best Seafood and Best Steak in the Frontiersman’ s“ Best of the Valley” reader’ s choice awards. Grounded in American cuisine yet versatile in his approach, he brings fresh, seasonal ideas to the Mat-Su Valley through the restaurant’ s ever-evolving Fresh Sheet.
Beyond the kitchen, Chef Michaud is deeply invested in shaping the future of hospitality. He serves on the Alaska CHARR Education Fund Board, as well as the Alaska CHARR Future Hospitality Leaders of America and ProStart Advisory Board, while also working with the National Restaurant Association to help pioneer Alaska’ s first apprenticeship program. He advises on culinary curriculum at AVTEC Technical College and volunteers his time mentoring young people entering the industry.
Passionate about food as a source of joy and connection, Chef Michaud dedicates himself not only to his craft but to the growth of the next generation of leaders in the culinary and hospitality industry.
