The North Gwinnett JCL accomplished a major milestone this year; we created and ratified our Constitution. After several drafts and revisions—and some wise words of advice from former GJCL Parliamentarian Chris Cherian—we proposed the final draft of the Constitution to the Advisory and Executive Boards at the Board Retreat in August. After discussion, we put the ratification to a vote. After a nail-biting voting process, the Constitution was ratified by a narrow margin of 17 to 0. After ratification, every board member signed their name on the document, and the ratification became official.

Though the Constitution was a huge accomplishment, it was far from the only one this year. We’ve represented Latin at several major school events this year, including “This is North”, the freshmen orientation before the school year, and International Night a couple weeks ago. Our Saturnalia Party in December, which included our first ever pie eating contest, was a huge success. Our Advanced Certamen Team is having one of the best years in recent memory and even placed 1st (!!!) at the Lupercalia Tournament in February. We are also sending more delegates to Convention this year than we ever have before.

With a Constitution and a passionate core of JCLers, the NGJCL is set up to do great things in the coming years.
