Wootton Hall Lamp
A finely cast brass six light hexagonal hall lantern, with delicate ‘C’ scroll and acanthus leaf cast decoration, with
palm leaf cast spandrels to the glazed sides. Inspired by an 18th century original by John Vardy.
Several Lanterns were designed by John Vardy for the Spencer family during his original Spencer House
commission for the 1st Earl Spencer. A key motif which is found through Vardy’s decorative scheme for Spencer
House and Holland’s scheme for Althorp is the palm leaf spray. This motif is found in the Wootton Hall as well as the
Palm Room at Spencer House.
