Spenceriana Library Chair
A finely upholstered Library Chair, the curved and soft buttoned back above an upholstered seat, enclosed by
outswept arms, on square tapering and fluted legs with brass cappings. Inspired by a George III original, previously in the Library at Althorp.
Inspired by the chair depicted at Althorp in the frontispiece portrait of George John, 2nd Earl Spencer in ‘Aedes
Althorpianae’. The volume was published alongside the Bibliotheca Spenceriana as an ‘Account of the mansion,
books, and pictures at Althorp; the residence of George John, Earl Spencer, K.G.’ 1814.
