aggression will ultimately make you unhappy.
So it is up to you to choose either creative and
constructive priming or destructive priming.”
His uncle continued further, “Just as a
watchman was needed to take care of the
garden, we too need a watchman to take care of
our mind and nourish it with good, creative and
positive thoughts. Now the question is who do
you think is the best watchman for your mind?”
The boy thought aloud, “Who can be the
best watchman? My parents? Teachers?
Friends? ”
To this his uncle replied, “Your parents,
friends and teachers can only act as the fence
around the garden and can tell you what is good
or bad for you. But it is YOU who needs to act as
a watchman. No other person can do that for
you.”
He then added, “Your mind is like a
beautiful garden full of creation, igniting ideas
and fruitful thoughts. As soon as you saw stray
dogs in the garden, you immediately reacted
and started thinking about it. This is priming.
You felt irritated because of the filth you
observed in the otherwise beautiful garden.
This made you unhappy. This filth is also present
within us in the form of 'kashaays' (Anger, pride,
deceit, greed). These 'kashaays' can make your
mind dirty and unhealthy. Like you suggested
erecting a fence to protect the garden, similarly
you should also protect your mind and ensure
that none of the 'kashaays' enter it. For the
safety of the beautiful garden you also
suggested to appoint a watchman. Likewise,
you are the watchman of your mind. It depends
solely upon you whether you want to allow
'kashaays' to enter your mind or not. If
'kashaays' enter your mind they will definitely
make you…” “UNHAPPY”, said the boy
completing the unfinished sentence.
He continued, “From now on I shall be aware of
'kashaays' and won't allow them to cross the
fence. And of course if there is garbage in the
garden, I will clean it rather than complain.”
Examples
We can play games like SimCity (iOS), Sudoku,
Candy Crush etc which are much more
constructive and creative and do not instigate
any form of violence within ourselves.
We can choose to watch channels like
National Geography, Discovery, History
channel etc which will feed us with lots of
general knowledge.
We can also choose to read books on self
development as well as spiritual books which
will ultimately 'prim' the image for us and
radiate both our inner and outer self.
Conclusion - Our behavior is
influenced by subtle things that lie
beyond our conscious awareness.
When we watch an image, it is
deciphered (interpreted) in our subconscious mind with a larger image.
For example – if you simply watch
the image of restaurant, a much
larger image of various cuisines will
form in your sub conscious mind.
This is priming.
