nce there lived two friends in a
village - One a landlord and the
other a businessman.
The landlord usually had his coterie
of friends around him (kusang) and was
into the habit of drinking and gambling.
One day he lost heavily whist gambling
and his financial condition deteriorated.
He lost his home, business, everything and
virtually became bankrupt. He was in
desperate need of financial assistance.
He approached his noble friend –
'the high profile businessman' to seek his
assistance. The businessman listened to
the whole story of his collapse and
advised him to stay calm for few months.
He told him –“Right now my position is
also tight. I will inform you when I have
financial surplus with me. Till such time

you do one thing: I have a small farmhouse on village outskirt. You stay there
for some time. Take some cattle along”!
He also gave him 10 goats to take care of.
After 6 months, the landlord once
again came to his businessman friend and
asked if he could lend him some money to
start a new business. The businessman
asked, “First tell me what have you done
during these 6 months?”
The landlord replied that most of his
time passed by taking the goats to the
farms for their food and nourishment.
They reproduced and gave birth to 10
new-born babies. But unfortunately none
of them survived. They all died over a
period of time.
