2023 Retreat : Leadership in a Time of Trauma ידי משה כבדים

After October 7th , AJR quickly pivoted to revise the focus of our Retreat . As Jewish clergy and as students studying to become Jewish clergy we carry our community ' s trauma while desperately trying to make space for a sense of our own .
The Retreat examined our response to trauma from three vantage points : 1 . The Personal - Where am I in all this ? Where does my empathy come from ? What do I model for others ? How do I care for myself ? 2 . The Communal - No two people are exactly the same . We are diverse and trauma affects each of us differently . What trauma reactions and patterns may exist in my community ? What can I do to help people cope , process , and relate to one another ? 3 . The Toolbox - What are some things I can actually do ? What are the techniques I can use to help people find their way through grief and trauma ?
The focus of this Retreat was on addressing the shared experience of individual and communal trauma . We came together in Connecticut to wrestle with the complexity of leading in a time of familial , national , international , historic , and intergenerational trauma .
