Increase in Output by Michael Dean Michael examines the factory upgrades to a popular Power Distributor sold by Austar Models and reviewed in a previous Airborne article. At first glance there appears no difference from previous mini power distributor units, but closer inspection highlights the changes which I consider a step forward for this brand of products with the overall basic operating principles remaining the same as previous units reviewed. The new units are constructed in the same way, that being a three tiered circuit PCB boards with all circuitry contained between each layer and servo leads access via the top tier. Side by side this unit is physically longer in length and width and naturally gained a little weight at 20g over the previous power unit. The overall thickness however been reduced due to the removal of the heatsink and fitting of an alloy base. The centre receiver compartment is also larger and you could easily fit two standard receivers side by side on the foam rubber insulation pad and Velcro receiver strap. So What's The Difference? The two variations are denoted by their colour. Introduction It was only a few months ago that I reviewed a Power Distributor from RCCSKJ and Austar Models and it appear that a lot can change in just such a short period of time! I received a call from Steve at Austars who was keen for me to check out the latest in power distributor design from the manufacturer.
