Goodies A few wing and fuse formers, two tyres, aluminium hub, engine box, windshield material, cowl, rudder. Editor says free mag for anyone finding all items. Just kidding! The Fun Stuff... Covering Solartex has been my choice of covering for almost every model I have ever built, it’s almost impenetrable and has contoured around some areas I thought impossible. Paint It’s an old song but true! I have used Spies and Hecker paint, a German product, on all my builds for the last 30 years with great success. It’s expensive but the results have always been fabulous. I still have a number of aircraft over twenty years old and they look as if they were painted yesterday. In the US, aerobatic pilot Greg Koontz flies his full size Super Decathlon at Air shows all over the country. I loved his red colour scheme but used my own decals throughout. Even better there was no masking much to the relief of my wife Pippa, who as all my friends know has always had this job on all my previous models. During painting she is the most observant quality controller you ever wish to meet. Decals As always, Jamie at Saber Signs on the Sunshine Coast did all the decals. He has a unique system he uses on all my models. He photographs all surfaces then takes their dimensions. Downloads the photos to his computer and then designs on the screen whatever I want on the fuselage side, wing area etc. This enables all the decals to be in perfect proportion and one can see on the screen exactly what the final product will look like. The man’s a genius. 48 Airborne
