eye-opening experience.
“I’ve learned more than I ever
thought I would,” he says. “I
work on the freezers, help with
preventative maintenance and
have learned how to spot and
diagnose problems.”
At the end of his internship, Dill
plans to move into a full time
position and build his career at
Tyson. “I want to keep learning
and moving up,” he says. “My
goal is to achieve the maximum
training level, and then look for further opportunity to improve.”
Dill’s career at Tyson is also helping him grow his financial future.
“With the money I’m earning, I was able to move into my own apart-
ment, and buy a new motorcycle,” he says. “In a few years, I plan to
buy a house.”
He thinks more people should consider a career in manufacturing. “I
like that this job is always something new. There’s always a challenge,
you have to think through what you’re going to do before you do it.
There’s always something new to learn.”
Dill says taking certain classes in high school helped prepare him for a
future in manufacturing. “I took every agricul-
ture, mechanics, metal working and construc-
tion related class that I could,” he says. Other
subjects are important, too. “I wish I had paid
more attention in science and math. I use a lot
of math every day,” he explains.
