A REWARDING CAREER
WITH POTENTIAL TO GROW
NORTHWEST HEALTH has an exciting career available to you,
whether you have a high school diploma, an M.D. or anything
in between.
Northwest Health is one of the largest health networks in Northwest
Arkansas with more than 35 physician practices and five hospitals:
Northwest Medical Center- Bentonville, Northwest Medical Center-
Springdale, Northwest Medical Center- Willow Creek Women’s
Hospital, Siloam Springs Regional Hospital and Northwest Health
Physicians’ Specialty Hospital.
“When people think of hospitals, they think of nurses and doc-
tors,” Jeremy Barclay, hospital administrator and chief operations
officer for Northwest Health explains. “But there are so many other
people who play a critical role.” Barclay went to high school in
Springdale and started a career in business after college, but says
he was drawn to healthcare.
“I wanted to help my community. I see my role here as taking ca re of
the people who take care of people.” Barclay is responsible for day-
to-day hospital operations and says every job at Northwest Health
is important. “Those that provide direct patient care are on the front
lines, but there are a number of
other positions in hospitals. For
example, one life-saving thing
we do every day that is often
overlooked is making sure patient
rooms are cleaned properly. If
that’s not done, it could potentially
put someone’s life at risk.” He
says a commitment to serving our
community sets Northwest Health
apart. “There’s a real focus on
why we do what we do. Health-
care isn’t just a job, it’s a calling.”
Nursing student Shelby Acuff
found her calling at Northwest
Health. “I really want to help
people every day and healthcare
is the best opportunity to make
a positive difference in people’s
lives. I like getting to know people
and making them smile.” Acuff

her learn more about careers in nursing. “I have the opportunity to
experience every department and that has helped me with school.
My grades have improved drastically because I’m able to apply
what I’ve learned while working.”
Admitting Supervisor David Miller also built his career while learning
on the job. The Springdale High graduate originally wanted to be a
radiology technician. “But then I applied for a job in ER admissions
and changed my mind about what I wanted to do because I really
like interacting with people,” he says.
Miller admits patients into the hospital and calculates insurance cover-
age and patient costs. He says it was a lot to learn at first. “I didn’t know
the insurance side of it and had to learn that. You have to have math and
computer skills to do that, and be able to communicate well with people.
Like any job, you have to be willing to
work hard and learn new things.”
Northwest Health will help you learn
new skills to grow your career. “We
offer tuition reimbursement if you
choose to pursue education related
to your healthcare career,” Missy
Couch, the human resources manager
for the Springdale campus says. “That
program can help if you’re interested
in nursing, being a surgical technician
or other career paths. We also have
a lot of good starting positions to help
you discover what you want to do,
and build your skills if you’re consider-
ing a career in healthcare.”
No matter what you do at North-
west Health, you’ll be part of
providing exceptional care to our
community. “Every job matters,”
Couch says. “From the first contact
with a patient, every job helps start
the healing process.”
