Professional services and business-related occupations make up the largest group of jobs in Northwest Arkansas and offer an incredibly wide variety of career opportunities. Jobs in the professional services sector are expected to grow over the next 10 years due mainly to the presence of Fortune 500 companies Walmart, Tyson Foods and J. B. Hunt.
The professional services sector encompasses any profession that offers customized services to a client. Those services include many of what were once called white collar jobs: attorneys, architects, engineers, sale representatives, managers, consultants, and real estate and insurance agents. While upper level management jobs and careers in law, architecture, and engineering require advanced degrees, there are many successful professions in this sector you can enter after high school.
Insurance agents are one of the professions where a college degree is not required. A person can enter the field and work their way up to owning their own agency.
The Farris Insurance Agency is looking for workers to train, said Steve Batchelor, who handles marketing for the company.
