Ozarks Electric prides itself on being innovative. It is constantly striving to improve upon how it serves its membership. It recently opened a solar power facility in Springdale after members expressed a strong interest in renewable energy. The five-acre facility has more than 4,000 solar panels and can power up to 200 homes. It is the first utility-scale, member-owned solar power generation facility in Arkansas.
Additionally, Ozarks Electric will soon be offering internet, television and telephone service to Northwest Arkansas and Northeast Oklahoma through a subsidiary called OzarksGo.“ This project will bring real broadband to area residents and businesses for the first time, as well as introduce real competition in speed, reliability and price to a region held captive by large national carriers,” said Randy Klindt, General Manager of OzarksGo.
With these innovative changes, Ozarks Electric better serves its membership through more reliable service and lower rates, and better serves its employees through job growth, a challenging work environment, and financial security.
The skills that Ozarks Electric looks for vary based on each position.
“ Many people who work here will be required to input data into our system in some form or fashion,” Esparza said.
Taking classes to learn programs like Word, PowerPoint and Excel will help with call center work, she added.
“ The ability to effectively communicate and think through issues will always be relevant to a job at Ozarks Electric. We can help our new hires become familiar with the technical aspects of the job; however, any steps a potential applicant can take, pre-hire, to improve their communication or critical thinking skills will be valued from day one,” Dixon said.
